The Lesson

Luke 6 38

My husband had just finished his lunch; as he and I sat at the dining room table. My 7 year old son had come downstairs to the dining room and showed his money to Papa. My husband asked him, how much did he have? To which my son responded: $1.50. My husband asked him if he would give him all of his money, except one cent. My son paused and said no. “I’ll only have one penny if I gave you all my money.” My husband responded: okay. He then called our second son (6 years) down to the dining room and asked him for all of his money. My second son said no. My husband responded: okay. He then called our oldest daughter (4 years)  to the dining room and asked her the same question; to which she responded yes, and gladly gave him her dollar. He called our baby girl (2 years) downstairs to the dining room and asked her for all of her money; and she too responded yes and gave it to him. My husband said to the girls: “Because you gave me all that you had, I’m going to give you back your dollar and another one.” The girls rejoiced and said thank you  papa! He then said: “I only added a dollar; but I like multiplication; so I’m going to give you another dollar.” The girls rejoiced again and thanked their papa. He then said: “Because you said thank you, I’m going to give you another dollar.” The girls again rejoiced and thanked papa.” Finally, my husband said: “Because you cheerfully gave me all that you had, I’m going to give you another dollar.” The girls celebrated once again; and cheerfully thanked their papa.

2 Corinthians 9 7

I sat there the entire time as I watched this biblical lesson being played out before my very eyes. My husband and I got up from the table; and went into the foyer to look at the new chairs that we had just bought. The girls followed us into the foyer; while my sons stayed at the table thinking. After we finished in the foyer, my husband, the girls and I went into the kitchen. I explained to the boys that they had just witnessed and been a part of a biblical lesson. I shared with them the time that YHWH/God told me to give away my entire check. It was very uncomfortable for me; but I did it anyway. Two weeks later, I had received a debt-free vehicle. I explained that it’s good to give your normal tithes and offerings; but there will be times when the Father asks you to give more. It’s only because He wants to give more to you.
