A Child’s Prayer of Salvation

Last year I wrote a series of 8 children’s poems; as a result of thinking about the faithless prayers that I prayed as a young kid. It is my heart’s desire to teach my children and others, how to pray according to the word of God….or effectual and fervent prayers. When I was a kid, I remember my siblings and I praying: “Now I lay me down to sleep, I pray the Lord my soul to keep. If I should die before I wake, I pray the Lord my soul to take.” The problem with this prayer is that it’s inconsistent with what the word of God says. Isaiah 26:3 (CSB) says: You will keep in perfect peace the mind [that is] dependent [on You], for it is trusting in You. Remember that our souls are made up of our minds, will and emotions): so He has us covered.  In Psalm 91:16, God declares that He will reward His followers with long lifePsalm 118:17 says that we shall live and not die. The infamous prayer/poem mentioned above sounds good; but it’s full of unbelief and therefore, ineffective.

It is my sincere hope that all parents teach their children how to pray effectively. This week’s Children’s poem is a Prayer of Salvation.

Please feel free to download this poem and share with other families. As always, God bless you, have an excellent week and I’ll see you again real soon!
