Caleb’s Birth Story

Today, my eldest son turns eight; and I am forever grateful to the Most High for him. He’s kind-hearted, a love carrier, discerning, a leader, super-fast like the flash, a great big brother and son; and so much more. Here’s his birth story.

My water broke around early afternoon. We waited until around five to go to the hospital; which was about an hour away. My husband drove like a maniac; and I just reclined my seat and prayed for safety. We arrived at the hospital and were kindly received by the warm nursing staff. We were taking to the birthing suite which had a balcony, water birthing tub; and a beautiful view of the mountains. My cheerful midwife came and checked me; along with the sweetest nurse’s aide. There was no activity yet; so I walked around and did Zumba on the balcony, to help things along. My midwife told me that the doctor (whom I had NEVER even met) wanted to give me pitocin to speed things up. I said to her: “With all due respect, I’ve never even met the doctor. I respect both of your training; however, this is my body, and it was designed to do this on its own.”  ….and that was the end of that conversation & I never did meet or see that doctor. Finally, I had begun having more consistent contractions. They were bearable; and I would just breathe through each one. Time moved on and I was only one cm dilated. My midwife left out; because she said it was normal for first-time moms to take a little bit longer to give birth. I called my mom to give her an update. She said: “Yonk, it won’t be long babe.” She later told me that she could hear discouragement in my voice, since it had been taking so long.

I got in the shower and the kind nurse’s aid massaged my lower back. I then went into the birthing pool. It was HOT! I jumped out. The time between contractions grew shorter and shorter. I was laying on the floor; and I exclaimed to my husband: “I don’t think I can do this! I think I need the drugs.” (This is after I had a well-written birth plan; which included no drugs). Just as I spoke that, the voice of my dear friend Angel, rang in my mind. She had called me a day or two earlier and said: “Yonka, I feel like I need to tell you this. When you feel like you can’t go on, the baby is about to come.” I got up off of the floor to lay in the bed. I was laying on my back; and wanted to get up to squat. My midwife was trying to turn me on my side, so that she could check me; however, I proved to be too strong. She asked my husband for help. He lifted me and placed me down on my side. That’s when my baby boy popped out onto the bed. No one caught him; because he came so fast. I felt such relief!!!!!

It was as if everything slowed down to slow motion speed. My midwife, husband and nurse’s aide stood at the bedside stunned. My baby boy laid there just looking around. I was looking at this beautiful creation and filled with joy. My midwife picked him up and carried him to the little table to clean him up, weigh him; and get his hand and foot prints.  It took a couple of minutes. He was 6 lbs, 2 oz; and 19 in. They then brought him to me and laid him on my tummy. He found his way up to my breast latched and began to eat. At some point, my husband took him and had him until I woke up the next morning. Different nurses came in, to congratulate me on a job well done. We were in love with our new baby; and were actually ready to go home that morning.  We however, had to stay until that the next day.

JB & Caleb2

I had a pretty good birthing experience at the hospital. I say pretty good, because my next three births were all at home (or someone’s home). As their birthdays approach, I will be sharing their individual birth stories as well; to encourage new moms-to-be in their birth place decisions. I firmly believe that YHWH/God designed our bodies so well; and that the wisdom to birth children without drugs (no judgement on ANY mom who has or wants drugs…..I COMPLETELY understand) is in us. I read quite a few books about child birth during each of my four pregnancies; but the one that was MOST helpful was “Ina May’s Guide To Childbirth,” by Ina May Gaskins. I could go on and on about it; but I won’t. If you are a mom-to-be, I HIGHLY recommend this book! As always, thanks for reading and YHWH/God bless you!

July Unschooling Adventures

july

The month of July was filled with more learning adventures. We continued to do our every day activities such as reading, bike riding, playing outdoors, swimming and playing at the beach, playing at the park, cooking, cleaning, and personal hygiene…..just to name more than a few. We also continued our weekly lake/boating adventures, flying, practicing music; as well as visited a friend’s farm and got up close and personal with our neighbor’s garden.

My seven year old was all about Dr. Seuss books this past month. My six year old was all about building trenches at the beach. All of the kids at the beach all joined in and would help; whenever we went to the beach. My four year old is still very much into Bubble Guppies. She continued to recite all of the facts from the show to my husband and me. My two year old enjoys getting her hair done and nails painted; and whenever she sees a U.S. flag, she recites the Pledge of Allegiance.

The boys became very interested in learning to shoot guns; since a friend of theirs is being taught by her father. I checked a couple of the shooting ranges in our area; but found that the age is 18 for lessons; or ten if they are doing competition shooting. For now, they have toy dart guns; and they are very much enjoying them. All of the kids enjoy helping me with cooking and cleaning. They do not however, enjoy cleaning their own rooms.

As we did the various activities throughout our day, the kids asked lots of questions. Some of them included:

  1. Do people die from rattlesnake bites?
  2. Why do the mountains look blue from far away; but green from close up?
  3. How does energy get in power lines?
  4. Where does energy come from?
  5. Why do fish eat worms?
  6. Why do these snails stink?

We set out to find the answers to all of these questions and more. We learned about the various types of clouds and the characteristics that distinguished them. We got to observe cows, goats (some pregnant), chickens, hatching baby chicks, pigs and bunnies up close; as well as feed them. We also got to observe and pick veggies and flowers from our neighbor’s gardens.

We continued reading through the book of Matthew; and added Proverbs. It seems nearly impossible to get through a chapter without at least ten questions and observations.  We also read about and discussed the digestive and reproductive systems of the body. These were some of my favorite discussions; because the kids are so interested in how their bodies function. I have always enjoyed reading and studying the body; because only YHWH/God can design such an incredibly efficient and intricate system that is programmed to pursue and produce life. It’s still one of the most amazing things to me! Explaining the reproductive system to my kids was the most natural thing. As we looked at the diagrams in the book, I explained to them that papas have testicles; which hold the seeds that produce babies…because everything starts from a seed. It’s the law in Genesis 8:22. I further explained that the eggs in mommy’s tummy is like the soil in the ground or in Ms. Mare’s (our neighbor) garden. When the seed goes into the egg, (just like when papa planted the tomato seeds), a baby starts to grow. They got it and that was that!

How’s it going?!

Wow! It’s been about a month since I’ve posted anything.  It was not due to lack of motivation, laziness or disinterest; but rather focus. I’ve been reading “Issuing Divine Restraining Orders in the Courts of Heaven,” by Dr. Francis Myles. If you have not read this book, I highly recommend it; but first read Robert Henderson’s “Operating in the Courts of Heaven” book. As citizens of the Kingdom of Heaven, it’s important to know and understand how the kingdom operates; as well as our rights. I’ve also been reading The Book of Jasher;  which gives a meatier account of the Pentateuch. You can get it here for free. I have really been enthralled in these books; as well as learning so much. My favorite part has been reading and sharing with my kids. When we were reading about the 12 sons of Israel (Jacob) and the supernatural strengths of each son, I asked my children what was their favorite part? My six year old (Judah), told me that learning about Judah and Naphtali was his favorite part; because Judah was the Hulk and Naphtali was the Flash. I laughed and told him he was absolutely right! It takes a kid to simplify things!

Other than that, I’ve been enjoying the time with my family; as well as watching my neighbors spend time with their families. Yesterday, we took our first boating trip of the season. It was fantastic! I am always in awe of the beauty of God’s creation. It was so peaceful and enjoyable. I’m also happy to share that my four year old (Hannah Banana) has mastered riding her two-wheel bike with pedals! Now my two year old (Livy Grace) is the proud owner of Hannah’s former two wheel pedaless bike. She is so happy with her “new” bike! Since all of the fun places are closed, playing out doors, feeding the neighbor’s chickens, bike riding, flying, playing with cousins and going to grandma’s house might’ve taken their places.

Well, that’s all I have for now. How’s it going with you?! I hope your hearts, eyes and ears are focused on God, despite what is going on around us. Have an excellent weekend and I’ll “see” you soon!

Children’s Prayer of Provision

2 Corinthians 9:8 (TPT) – Yes, God is more than ready to overwhelm you with every form of grace, so that you will have more than enough of everything—every moment and in every way. He will make you overflow with abundance in every good thing you do.

2 Corinthians 9:10 – 11 (TPT) – This generous God who supplies abundant seed for the farmer, which becomes bread for our meals,is even more extravagant toward you. First he supplies every need, plus more. Then he multiplies the seed as you sow it, so that the harvest of your generosity will grow. 11 You will be abundantly enriched in every way as you give generously on every occasion, for when we take your gifts to those in need, it causes many to give thanks to God.

Psalm 84:11 – For the Lord God is brighter than the brilliance of a sunrise! Wrapping himself around me like a shield, he is so generous with his gifts of grace and glory. Those who walk along his paths with integrity will never lack one thing they need, for he provides it all!

Heavenly Father,

2 Corinthians 9:8 says You give me way more than I need;

So that I can bless others  (according to Genesis 12:2) and sow more seed.

You are so generous, you give me more than enough,

Wisdom, family & friends, food and cool stuff.

Direct me to the people who came to you in prayer,

And I thank you for the honor of being the answer you’d prepare.

In Yeshua’s name,

Amen

Children’s Prayer of Protection

Psalm 121:7-8 (TPT) – He will keep you from every form of evil or calamity as he continually watches over you. 8 You will be guarded by God Himself. You will be safe when you leave your home and safely you will return. He will protect you now, and he’ll protect you forevermore!

Heavenly Father,

Thank you for knowing that I would sometimes feel fear;

And for assuring me that, You’d always be here.

What a relief is Psalm 121: 7- 8…

It says: You guard me Yourself! This makes me feel great!

You promised to protect me wherever I go,

And it brings me comfort, just to know….

That you are the ultimate promise keeper.

In  Yeshua’s name,

Amen

Children’s Prayer for Courage

Deuteronomy 31:6 (MEV) – Be strong and of a good courage. Fear not, nor be afraid of them, for the Lord your God, it is He who goes with you. He will not fail you, nor forsake you.”

2 Timothy 1:7 (NKJV) – For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.

Heavenly Father,

You promised to be with me wherever I go,

Deuteronomy 31:6 tells me so.

You said You’ll never fail, or leave me;

So I can be strong, courageous and  worry free.

2 Timothy 1:7 says:

I have power, love and my mind is sound;

So I’m moving forward and taking ground.

No one can stop me according to Joshua 1:5

I’m rejoicing in You &  blessed to be alive!

In Yeshua’s name,

Amen

Children’s Prayer for Peace In Jerusalem

Psalm 122:6 (TPT) – Pray and seek for Jerusalem’s peace, for all who love her will prosper!

Heavenly Father,

I love Jerusalem because you do,

I pray for its peace and prosperity too.

Give its leaders wisdom, to lead as you will,

And the people the heart,

to be the city on top of the hill.

In Yeshua’s name,

Amen

Children’s Prayer for Leaders & Nation

1 Timothy 2:1 – 2 (TPT) – Most of all, I’m writing to encourage you to pray with gratitude to God. Pray for all men with all forms of prayers and requests as you intercede with intense passion. 2 And pray for every political leader and representative, so that we would be able to live tranquil, undisturbed lives, as we worship the awe-inspiring God with pure hearts.

Proverbs 21:1 (TPT) – It’s as easy for God to steer a king’s heart for his purposes as it is for him to direct the course of a stream.

Job 12:23 (AMP) – “He makes nations great, and He destroys them; He enlarges nations, and leads them away [captive].

Heavenly Father,

I pray for our leaders, to hear and obey your voice;

Concerning our nation, so they’d make the right choice…

To honor You alone; and work in unity,

So the people can experience a time of jubilee.

In Yeshua’s name,

Amen

A Children’s Prayer of Praise & Thanksgiving

Psalm 100:4 -5 (TPT)  – You can pass through his open gates with the password of praise. Come right into his presence with thanksgiving. Come bring your thank offering to Him and affectionately bless His beautiful name! 5 For the Lord is always good and ready to receive you. He’s so loving that it will amaze you— so kind that it will astound you! And He is famous for His faithfulness toward all. Everyone knows our God can be trusted, for He keeps His promises to every generation!

Father,

It’s my honor and pleasure to give you praise,

The Almighty, Omnipotent, Ancient of Days.

You are the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end,

The Omniscient One who created the seas and the wind.

I thank you O Lord, for Your mercy and grace,

And for being with me, know matter what I face.

Your word (2 Corinthians 2:14) says You always cause me to win,

You’re the One on whom, I can always depend.

Thank you O Lord for all that You’ve done;

And for the ultimate sacrifice of Your son.

I love You and need you more than air,

And I thank you precious Father, for always being there.

In Yeshua’s name,

Amen
