I’ve been reading the books of I & II Samuel to my children. 2 Samuel 12:8 stood out to me. How giving is YHWH/God to all of us? He gave David Saul’s house and wives; as well as made him king over Israel and Judah, and then said to him: If that wasn’t enough, I would’ve given you more. Who says that? David had cities, houses, wives, servants, horses, mules, sheep, cattle, other farm animals, gold, silver and more….and God said He would have given him more if that wasn’t enough. How generous and lavish is YHWH/God?! Of course I began thinking about the Father’s generosity in my life. I have the kindest and most generous neighbors. We rarely return from our walks empty-hearted or handed. So many times, these people bless us with smiles and compliments. We have picked fruits, veggies and flowers from nearly every neighbor’s yard with a fruit tree or garden. My sweet neighbor Ms. Mare has given the kids so many neat games, toys and experiences. There’s a man who we met once, that leaves toys and games for the kids on our front porch from time to time.
I remember prior to having children, I wanted two boys and a girl (in that order). Not only did YHWH/God bless me with two boys and a girl in that order, He also exceeded my expectation with my baby girl. She is the MOST JOYFUL person I’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing. All of my children are absolute delights and blessings from Father. I just love them and I’m so very grateful that He gave me this great opportunity to train them in His way and impact generations to come. I don’t think it’s possible for YHWH/God to outdo Himself, but I think He came pretty close with these four children.
There is so much to thank YHWH/God for. It would take an eternity to list everything, so I’ll just choose a couple more things. I’m grateful for this country (U.S.A.). It might seem tumultuous right now; but it still is a great country. God loves us; and it’s very evident to me. He’s always looking for opportunities to bless us. I’m so encouraged by what’s going on in some pockets of the country…..thousands of salvations, pastors still having services in spite of fines and threats of being jailed, spontaneous worship breaking out in airports and other venues, believers drawing closer to the Most High. I just love it all!
I’ll end this post with a testimony of YHWH/God’s generosity. He is the most loving, kind and generous being ever. I thought to myself one night: “This house needs some flowers.” This was just a thought. I was thinking that a bouquet on the counter would be nice. Two days later, my husband wakes up and says: “I don’t know why, but I have this desire to get flowers for the house.” The very next day we hired a florist; and she has been bringing multiple bouquets of flowers to my home a couple times a month. Is YHWH/God not lavish and generous?! I was thinking one bouquet; but He was thinking multiple bouquets. I’m also grateful to Father for my husband. He’s a man that considers and hears from YHWH/God on everything. He’s definitely one of the best blessings of my life. I love hearing testimonies about YHWH/God’s goodness. How has He lavishly blessed you?
November was filled with lots of activity. We went through our clothes and shoes; and donated our best things to the church near our home. The boys helped papa put together their new beds. The kids also came along to vote. They learned about the constitution, including their first, second and fourth amendment rights. Our awesome neighbor (Ms. Mare) had the kids over and made S’mores with them. It was a real treat! They also went to work with papa. I love hearing my seven year old comment about various properties; especially about what can be done to improve the property. We read through the second book of Samuel; as well as some of 1 Kings. The interesting thing that my eight year old noted was that David’s one decision affected not only him, but his children as well. This lead to a great discussion on the ramifications of our choices.
The kids watched a ton of Superbook this month…..the stories of Daniel, Esther and Jonah in particular. They also watched Berenstain Bears, Wild Kratts, Blippi & Peppa Pig. They played Uno, Monopoly, Candy Land, Connect 4 and Tic, Tac, Toe. They built Rube Goldberg machines (some unsuccessfully) that opened books, turned off the light and rolled a marble off the table. They learned about photosynthesis and matter; due to my son’s curiosity. We also went over counting (the 3 year old), addition, multiplication, fractions, place value, phonics, & word recognition. We did all of this without completing ANY worksheets during the entire month. We added singing the Star-Spangled Banner to our daily routine, right after reciting the Pledge of Allegiance. l do think it’s important to teach my kids appreciation for our country. We’re still spending time outdoors, even though it’s a bit chillier. We go to different parks, exploring in the woods or just through the neighborhood.
I was on a mission to ensure that my boys would have NEAT handwriting. My boys’ handwriting is so neat and it just delights my soul! It has been drilled into them that writing is a form of communication. Poor handwriting is a form of poor communication. If no one can read or understand what you’ve written, then you’ve failed to effectively communicate. My kids have written letters and thank you notes to family, friends and neighbors; and I couldn’t be more pleased with the neatness and clarity of their letters.
We wrapped up the month by spending Thanksgiving with family and friends. The kids enjoyed spending time with their favorite cousins; as well as zooming with relatives in other places. November was filled with so many learning opportunities; and we took advantage of as many as we could! You can check out our adventures here. What learning opportunities did your unschoolers/homeschoolers take advantage of during November?
A few years ago, I had been in the fitness industry for over 15 years; as a Group Fitness Instructor, Personal Trainer, Wellness Coach, Health & Wellness Director/Manager and National Trainer to fitness professionals. I began having questions and a dissatisfaction for what I was seeing in the industry. I wondered why apparently healthy people (the super-lean ones, who could run forever; and ate super-healthy diets), could have major heart attacks or drop dead in the middle of a workout. I thought about all of the conflicting diet and nutrition information that left people all kinds of confused. I wondered why this industry could have a multi-billion dollar worth; with such a poor track record. I remember reading some statistics a couple years ago that said that 90 percent or so of people in the U.S. make New Year’s resolutions (with the vast majority including weight loss goals); but 80 percent fail to attain their goals. To me, that’s a travesty.
It is such a desire in my heart to shift to YHWH/God culture in the fitness industry. It’s not all about getting a certain look, getting super lean, or looking good in a swimsuit. It’s about being a good steward of this temple that the Father has blessed us with. It’s about being connected with the Most High through our spirits; prospering our souls, by renewing out minds with the word of God; so that we can have good health (Romans 12:2 & 3 John 1:2).
I’ve started a new YouTube channel, entitled: Good Thing Fitness to begin a movement in that direction. Every workout will begin with prayer and a declaration; and will be posted twice a week (Tuesdays & Thursdays). I would love to incorporate Christian, Gospel and Worship music; but the rules for this is a bit different from using music in a live in-person class. I know there’s a way; and I’m certain that my vision will come to pass. Please feel free to check out the Good Thing Fitness channel and subscribe. Have an excellent rest of your week and I’ll be “seeing” you!
Seven years ago today, my precious Judah-pooh graced the earth with his presence. It was a Monday, and I had an appointment to visit the birthing center, where my husband and I had planned on having him. I went to my sister’s home (which was two blocks away from the birthing center); to get my hair done. She’s both an educator and licensed cosmetologist; and was very adamant about “not going to the birthing center looking busted.” So, I arrived at her home and was in labor; but I didn’t know it. My baby wasn’t due for another two weeks; and I was scheduled to teach my fitness class after my appointment. Also, my water broke first with my first son; and then I went into labor. So in my mind’s eye I was fine, since my water had not broken. I continued on with my day not knowing.
I rang her doorbell. When she opened the door, she asked if I was alright. I responded yes; I just need a moment to breathe. She asked: “Are you having contractions?” I said, “No, I don’t think so.” So I entered her home; and she proceeded to do my hair. As I sat there, the contractions became a little more pronounced; so I started to time them. They were two minutes apart. I called my husband (who was at work a half hour away) to let him know. We talked and laughed for a bit; and we decided that I should call the midwife; and call him again when the contractions dropped below two minutes. I called the midwife and told her that my contractions were two minutes apart and she told me that I needed to get to there “like yesterday.” As soon as I hung up the phone with her, out comes baby Judah.
My mom came just in time to catch and welcome him. My sister tied the umbilical cord; once it stopped pulsating. She then called the ambulance (who were right around the corner from her home); and they were there within minutes. They took me to the birthing center; where my husband met us there. We were there for a few hours and went home. Needless to say, I didn’t teach my fitness class that evening; but all of my students were so delighted. It was a wonderful experience and I’m so grateful that both my mom and sister got to share in it.
There was a very interesting article that was released over the weekend by Pew Research entitled, “8 Facts About Catholics and Politics in the U.S.” Now first – Pew Research is not some “pew”-as-in-church-“pew” religious organization. No, it is Pew, as in the “nonpartisan fact tank that informs the public about the issues, attitudes and…
YHWH/God is good!I often take moments throughout the day to connect with the Most High; and reflect on His goodness. Many people might regard this year as the most challenging year ever….when looking from a natural or physical perspective. However, I see something totally different. Throughout my life, whenever pressure came, it would bring about such a focus in me. It didn’t matter if it was playing basketball, having to complete a project at work, home or whatever. This year has been no different. I think it has, if nothing else, brought about a focus in the body of Messiah/Christ to consistently seek YHWH/God like never before.
I thank Him for His comforting presence and peace that has and continues to flood my life. I thank YHWH/God for all of the intercessors and prayer warriors standing in the gap for our nation, other nations, President Trump and all leadership, the unborn children, lost souls and everything and body in between. I’m thankful for the five-fold ministry leaders who are boldly teaching, preaching and declaring YHWH/God’s truth. I’m grateful for the families who are the salt in their neighborhoods and communities. I’m so very thankful for the families who have accepted the call to train their children up in the way that they should go; so that we will have generations of people and leaders whose hearts are inclined to the heart and will of the Most High.
YHWH/God is so good. He’s so just and he loves us all (sinners and His own children) more than we could possibly ever imagine. The future is bright! The best is yet to come! Praise Him NOW!!!
The Father says today, “Get ready for a backlog outpouring of My glory in your life! July is a month of explosive goodness and radical favor in the things that are before you. Do you want to believe the naysayers or the ‘doom and gloomers,’ or are you ready for a full measure and manifestation […]
There were so many blessings during the month of June….almost too numerous to count. I share these monthly blessings posts to not only remind myself of YHWH/God’s goodness; but also to encourage others to truly trust YHWH/God. In my May Blessings post, I shared a testimony about a conversation with YHWH/God; and how He had blessed me with help three days later. A day after that (which was June 1st), YHWH/God blessed me with more help. To say that I do NOT enjoy cooking is a DRASTIC understatement. In my heart, I wanted a chef to just cook dinner. It was the meal that I least looked forward to making each day. Again, during my conversation with the Most High, I didn’t complain; I recited Psalm 121:1 to Him; and thanked Him for being my helper. Not only did God send me a Chef; but one who could make Caribbean food (which is an anomaly in the area where I live). In my eyes, not only did YHWH/God bless me; but He also delivered me from having to cook dinner and lunch. The Chef makes so much food; that it has been more than enough for dinner and weekends. I just praise YHWH/God, because He’s interested in every detail of our lives; as well as truly gives us the desires of our hearts. He also gives us exceedingly beyond what we ask. I just praise and thank Him!
Another blessing during the month of June was home renovations. I was vacuuming the rug in my living room; and thought to myself: “This rug needs to be cleaned.” I then thought to myself: “This whole house needs an overhaul.” The very next day, my husband came home with a new living room set. He asked me my thoughts. I responded that I LOVED it! (My husband has great taste; so I totally trust Him to select things for our home). From there, we have been upgrading each room. We’re not done yet; but we’re well on our way.
The blessing in all of this is two-fold. YHWH/God takes care of me and my household, because of our covenant relationship. I rely on Him alone to provide for me. There’s no pressure on my husband to get things for me. YHWH/God will put things on His heart; and He does it. The second part of the blessing is that we are able to pay for everything in cash. Once our hearts took hold of the revelation of Romans 13:8, we made the quality decision to stay out of debt; and trust YHWH/God for everything.
Perhaps the greatest blessing of June is that one of the contractors working in our home gave his life to YHWH/God. On the day that it happened, my husband was upstairs witnessing to him; while I was downstairs praying for him. I just praise YHWH/God! One more treasure for Him.
There were so many more blessings; but I don’t want this post to get super long. Thank you for reading. Please share some of the ways YHWH/God has blessed you; and may He bless you even more. Have an excellent weekend!
This is a dream I had in January that I released as a prophetic word. Because of what we are seeing right now in the earth, I am reposting this word and I am crying out for, decreeing and declaring this unprecedented, accelerated demonstration and manifestation of the Lord’s justice in the earth. Prophetic Word […]
I am so completely honored for such an AWESOME nomination! Thank you SO very much Dawn!!
Dawn’s blog is called Drawing Closer to Christ. She is a woman who is anointed by God to write. Her posts not only encourage and inspire; but many have revealed the very heart of God. As if that wasn’t enough, Dawn will also pray for you if you have a prayer request. If you are looking for inspiration and encouragement that will usher you into a closer relationship with Christ, this is the blog to follow.
The rules are simple:
Thank the person who nominated you and link to her blog.
Post three photos of just yourself and write a short caption beneath each about why you chose that photo.
Nominate seven women for the Fix Her Crown Award, women who lend a helping hand to the woman whose crown seems too heavy, who appreciate the sister who dares to be her own glorious self, who raise strong young women, who smile at the sister journeying alone and walk alongside her for a time, who stand with the sister whose crown has been knocked off her head time after time and women who shine as their own beautifully unique selves.
Link to the blogs of the seven nominees.
I don’t have many photos of just me. I’m rarely alone as a wife and unschooling mom of four. I chose this pic from one of our hikes last week; because I love my children and being in nature (when pesky insects have not yet come out).
I chose this pic because it’s just of me; and one of the things that I have enjoyed all of my life (fitness/exercise).
This pic was selected because my husband is a big part of who I am; and I just LOVE flying! There is something about looking at things from a higher perspective…both physically and spiritually.
I nominate the following ladies. Thank you for sharing your gift of encouragement through writing with so many of us. I look forward to seeing your post should you choose to participate.
