Wellness Wednesday

A few years ago, I had been in the fitness industry for over 15 years; as a Group Fitness Instructor, Personal Trainer, Wellness Coach, Health & Wellness Director/Manager and National Trainer to fitness professionals. I began having questions and a dissatisfaction for what I was seeing in the industry. I wondered why apparently healthy people (the super-lean ones, who could run forever; and ate super-healthy diets), could have major heart attacks or drop dead in the middle of a workout. I thought about all of the conflicting diet and nutrition information that left people all kinds of confused. I wondered why this industry could have a multi-billion dollar worth; with such a poor track record. I remember reading some statistics a couple years ago that said that 90 percent or so of people in the U.S. make New Year’s resolutions (with the vast majority including weight loss goals); but 80 percent fail to attain their goals. To me, that’s a travesty.

It is such a desire in my heart to shift to YHWH/God culture in the fitness industry. It’s not all about getting a certain look, getting super lean, or looking good in a swimsuit. It’s about being a good steward of this temple that the Father has blessed us with. It’s about being connected with the Most High through our spirits; prospering our souls, by renewing out minds with the word of God; so that we can have good health (Romans 12:2 & 3 John 1:2).

I’ve started a new YouTube channel, entitled: Good Thing Fitness to begin a movement in that direction. Every workout will begin with prayer and a declaration; and will be posted twice a week (Tuesdays & Thursdays). I would love to incorporate Christian, Gospel and Worship music; but the rules for this is a bit different from using music in a live in-person class. I know there’s a way; and I’m certain that my vision will come to pass. Please feel free to check out the Good Thing Fitness channel and subscribe. Wellness Wednesday Tip of the Week #2

This week’s declaration is based on Deuteronomy 31:8 and is:  The Lord will lead me. He Himself is with me. He will not fail or leave me. I am worry-free and courageous! This powerful declaration is such a confidence booster and comfort.

The exercise of the week is a squat and push up combination for a warm up; or either for a workout. I use it for both. I love body weight exercises and feel that it’s advantageous to train the body as a unit, over training individual muscles….unless there is an injury or major muscle weakness/imbalance.  I’ve included the exercises in this video. The declaration and demo is about two minutes. The additional eight minutes includes the full workout from ten squats and push ups, down to one of each. My two daughters are in the video with me. If nothing else, you’ll get a little laugh.

Declaration & Exercise of the Week

Greetings Everyone!!

This week’s declaration is based on John 3:16 (NIV) and is: God love’s me. Say it, and meditate on it, and say it some more, until you believe it! The exercise is a health bounce on the mini-trampoline. It’s gentle on the joints. It increases the functionality of the lymphatic system; which fights bacterial and viral infections. It can improve the pelvic floor muscles, among many other benefits. Check out the vid below; and if you have any questions, please feel free to ask!
