Thank God

More than a few times a week, I think about & write down the things that I’m thankful for. It’s helpful for keeping a cheerful disposition; and serves as a reminder of the Most High’s goodness. Below is my list of ten things I’m grateful for today:

1. My covenant relationship with God

2. My husband & children

3. My spiritual growth

4. Courage

5. My authority as a believer

6. My bible study group

7. The ministries that are preaching & teaching truth that liberates

8. My flexible schedule

9. Going boating on the lake on the weekends

10. How true science & nature reveals the glory & character of God.

There is so much more that I’m grateful for; but I’m not writing a book at the moment. What are some of the things that you’re thankful to God for?

All of us deal with some form of brokenness from various experiences in life. I am that 1 in 4 children that come from a fatherless home (according to the 2017 U.S. Census Bureau’s report). According to the statistics from the report: the children are more likely to experience poverty, behavioral problems, incarceration, child abuse, substance abuse, childhood obesity, drop out of school and commit a crime. As I read through the above statistics, initially I thought that I managed to avoid all of them; but then, I thought about the spiritual aspect, which was way more sobering. It’s imperative to understand that as the Creator of mankind, God knows best; and has given us instructions about how to operate optimally. God knows that to live and function optimally on the earth, children NEED both Father and Mother living peacefully, in the same home. Our society has many variations of family; but these do not negate what God established in the beginning.

Fathers are vitally important  in the home. In addition to providing authority & being protectors and providers (1 Timothy 5:8 & John 15:13), they also do the following:

-Show compassion (Psalm 103:13 & Luke 15:20-24)

-Train children through discipline and instruction (Ephesians 6:4, Proverbs 19:18 & 22:6)

-Live with integrity (Proverbs 20:7)

-Give wisdom, good insight and precepts ( Proverbs 4:1-9)

-Encourage (Colossians 3:21)

-Teach his children and descendants about their covenant with God (Genesis 18:19)

-Physically corrects his children when necessary (Proverbs 13:24)

-Corrects his children (Proverbs 3:11-12)

-Embraces his children as gifts from the Lord (Psalm 127:3-5)

Happy Father’s Day to all the men who embrace the high calling of Fatherhood. I respect you!! I especially honor, respect and admire my husband. He’s such an excellent man, husband and father. Our children are so very blessed to have him as their papa. He’s a man of high integrity. He’s filled with compassion. He’s so loving to our children and me: and he’s the most courageous & excellent person I’ve ever encountered. I tell him often that he embodies the courage of Joshua and excellence of Daniel.  He’s also very silly (the kids love this about him); and my personal comedian (I laugh EVERY day). Once again, Happy Father’s Day! I hope all of you Father’s were honored in the most excellent way today….and every day.

How do you identify?

Hello All!!!

I started this blog a while ago; but set it aside to focus on my online coaching groups. However, I’m now returning with a renewed focus and message, in this new season of my life. I think that how we see ourselves; and what we believe as our image of ourselves, either prompt us or prevent us from entering into our promised lands….as believers in the Most High God. The biblical story of the Children of Israel prior to entering the promised land is a great lesson about how we see God (Elohim)and how we see ourselves. The twelve spies returned from spying out the promised land. Ten of them brought back an EVIL report; while the other two chose to BELIEVE and SAY what God said ( we are well able). They saw themselves as grasshoppers; and therefore, unable to take possession of their promised land. They wept ALL NIGHT in the wilderness because of how thy saw themselves and God. Wow!!

This tells me that not only did the image that they had of themselves were small; but also of God…..even though He had done some pretty miraculous things for them.  Think about that! They were in the wilderness for 40 years, and their clothes and shoes didn’t wear out. He kept them shaded from the sun by a cloud during the day, so that they wouldn’t get sunburned or have a heat stroke. He quenched their thirst with water from a rock; fed them with manna every day; parted the sea and got rid of their enemies. They witnessed all of this; but still were not able to enter their promised land, because of an evil report and how they saw themselves.

How many times have you believed an evil report OVER what God said in His word? The doctor says: You have such and such.  Instead of saying: With His stripes I am healed, you instead say what the doctor says. If you find yourself in ANY predicament, you MUST renew your mind with what the word of God says about you. There are quite a few scriptures regarding our identity in Christ. Psalm 82:6 says that we are gods (also John 1:34); and children of The Most High. We’re referred to as God’s treasured possession and the apple of God’s eye, multiple times in the scriptures; as well kings, lords, and so much more.

In the days of Adam and Eve, God gave them dominion over the earth. Jesus came so that we could have that same dominion back. In order to function in this dominion, we have to renew our minds (Romans 12:2) to what God says about us. As we saw earlier with the Children of Israel, two reports came… evil one and a good one. Which one will you believe? Are you willing to do the work of renewing your mind?
